RED FROG TOUR
This full-day expedition combines canopy exploration, vibrant marine life, and a trek through the dense interior of Bastimentos Island. As home to the Bastimentos Island National Marine Park, this region stands as one of the archipelago's most biodiversity-rich hot spots, protecting both coastal mangroves and raw island jungle. While navigating its shorelines and inland trails, you have the opportunity to observe the famous tiny red poison dart frogs (Oophaga pumilio) on the forest floor, three-toed sloths resting in the high branches, and white-faced capuchin monkeys moving through the trees. The canopy also supports a wide array of tropical birdlife, including active populations of toucans and parrots.
The day begins with a private boat ride toward Red Frog Beach, where you kick off the trip with a high-energy zipline course spanning the island's tree canopy. From there, the boat relocates to a prime reef location for a snorkeling session, giving you clear visibility of the area's coral structures and resident tropical fish. Following the water activities, we cruise to La Tierra del Encanto. Here, the expedition transitions to foot for a guided hike deep into the jungle environment, culminating in a plunge into a hidden freshwater waterfall. The tour wraps up with a freshly prepared lunch served directly on the property before heading back.

Hiking Tierra Encanto
the experience
Nestled in the lush 35-acre private nature preserve of La Tierra del Encanto, this network of trails offers an immersive chance to explore a peaceful, low-difficulty landscape. With trails suitable for all ages, the preserve winds along the river and beneath majestic, centuries-old rainforest trees, inviting you to slow down and connect with nature.
Walk with Giants as you navigate a trail winding along the river through old-growth cacao groves. Spot sloths resting in the canopy, differently colored morphs of poison-dart frogs, and intricate spiders in the foliage.
